What Snowboard Discrimination?

Yuppy Skiers.jpg

The U.S. National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame (yes, it does exist) is holding their annual induction ceremony on April 4th.  The inductees?  Skiers Nelson Carmichael, Liz McIntyre, Cary Adgate and Bill Briggs.  Notice anything missing?  Like the sports section of your local paper, there are no snowboarders in sight (maybe this is the reason why newspapers are going under, can't keep up with the times).

To make this story even more of a cliché, you (yes, you) can attend this yuppie, upscale and elitist affair by dropping just a measly $125 to sit next to the Buffy's and Gavin's of the world.  Who said there was a recession?

In fact, out of the 356 skiers and snowboarders enshrined in the U.S. National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame, only two are snowboarders: Jake and Donna Carpenter.  Jake Burton I understand, but why the fuck is his wife in the Hall of Fame ahead of Craig Kelly and Terje Haakonsen?

To make this farce an even bigger joke, the Hall of Fame ceremonies are being held at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah.  Deer Valley Resort is one of the three remaining resorts who does not allow snowboarding.  If you wish to voice your complaints towards the U.S. National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame, shoot an email to administrator@skihall.com or call (906) 485-6323.
