In a surprising revelation during an interview last Saturday with The Extreme Scene, O-Matic Snowboards co-founder Todd Richards revealed that fellow co-founder and pro snowboarder Tara Dakides has parted ways with the company she helped create.
“She’s not with O-Matic anymore,” said Richards.
The two helped form O-Matic Snowboards a few years ago and since then have signed top riders Louie Vito and Chanelle Sladics to the O-Matic team. Richards blamed a difference in philosophies for the split. “Let’s just put it this way: Some people are meant to go into business together. Some people are not meant to go into business together,” said Richards. “She’s great. Love her to death. Always have. People just have different views and ways to do things and our personalities clashed.”
Richards said the two have no hard feelings towards each other, and that Dakides has already landed on her feet (no pun intended). “She’s doing great. She’s riding for Flow now,” said Richards.
Richards went on to add, “She’s got something going. She’s not like living in a cardboard box or anything so don’t worry about it.” Chances are the Queen of Snowboarding will recover quite nicely.
Update: Per our boy Tracy Anderson, Tara Dakides did not reach an agreement with Flow. "We had her riding Flow boards at the X Games and we had a deal worked out, but in the end it couldn't be worked out, so no, she will not be riding for Flow," said Andrew Mutty, Flow team manager.
