You learn something new every day, and today I learned that that they have this organization called the United States Collegiate Skiing and Snowboarding Association who annually holds national championships. This year, Sierra Nevada College dominated the snowboarding competition, and despite the SNC skiers losing for the first time in 17 years, the success of the snowboarders carried the school to the national title.
SNC's mascot is the Eagle, and the Eagles placed first in all four of the snowboarding men's events. "It was great for the guys to have every event won by a different athlete," said coach Jeff Corrado. Props to Spencer Cordovano for winning the giant slalom, Spencer Reeves for winning boardercross, Tucker Norred for winning slopestyle, and Austen Butler for winning halfpipe.
Zero props to the skiers, who needed the snowboarders to carry SNC to the national title. The skiers failed to carry SNC to the national title for the first time in 17 years as Utah's Westminster College beat them in the both the men's and women's ski competitions. Leave it to the skiers to fuck things up, and the snowboarders to pick up after the skiers mess. Congrats again to the SNC Eagles snowboarders for representing NorCal and winning the national title!
