Even thought this was Sherwood’s first international FMX contest, he has spent the past year touring with the Crusty Demons. And it showed, as the “Rubber Kid” conquered a course of fearsome kickers and a huge landing hill. Sherwood beat Eigo Sato, a rider almost twice Sherwood’s age, in the final.
“I’m better because, at my age, I am able to put my body through even more,” said Sherwood. “Winning here is the best day of my life.”
There were some notable riders who failed to show at the event. Nate Adams and Twitch were MIA, and the absence of Jeremy Lusk was clearly evident in the first major FMX event since his untimely and tragic death.
Congrats again to Levi Sherwood for winning Red Bull’s X-Fighters Mexico City.
